    Colloid mill theory is based on generating intense hydraulic shear between a rotor and a stationary stator separated by a very narrow, adjustable gap. As the fluid or slurry passes through this gap at high rotor speed, particles are subjected to shearing, impact, and cavitation forces that tear them apart into fine colloidal-sized droplets or solid particles, typically in the range of 1 to 25 microns, producing stable emulsions and suspensions.
