A colloid mill is indeed used as a pharmaceutical ointment mill, alongside triple-roller mills, since its rotor-stator design efficiently disperses active ingredients and pigments into ointment bases, ensuring smooth texture and even distribution of actives throughout the product. While roller mills are common for very thick, waxy ointments, a colloid mill is often preferred for lower-viscosity formulations or when in-line continuous processing is needed.
