A colloid mill offers a distinct advantage in suspension production because its rotor-stator gap applies much more concentrated, localized shear than a standard high-speed disperser, breaking down solid particles more effectively and reducing the likelihood of settling or clumping over time. This makes the mill especially useful for suspensions containing fine powders or pigments that need a narrow, uniform particle size distribution.
