Colloid mill shear force refers to the mechanical stress exerted on particles as they pass through the narrow rotor-stator gap under high relative velocity. The magnitude depends on rotor speed, gap width, and fluid viscosity, and must be sufficient to overcome interfacial tension and particle cohesion. Excessive shear can generate unwanted heat, while insufficient shear force fails to achieve the target colloidal particle size.
