A New Bitumen Emulsion Complex Commissioned in the Capital of Ghana

For a month (8 June to 8 July this year), GlobeCore engineers visited Accra (Ghana).

The engineers assisted with assembly and commissioning of a full scale bitumen emulsion production complex there. An important part of the complex is GlobeCore equipment for the production of cationic or anionic bitumen emulsions. Note that our company also manufactures storage containers for bitumen emulsions and modified bitumen, bitumen filters and laboratory equipment for the development of binding material formulas. The bitumen emulsion produced complies with quality standards and is successfully used in road construction and repairs. Commissioning was combined with training of the customer’s personnel to operate the equipment.

A similar GlobeCore bitumen emulsion complex has been commissioned in Ghana previously. The facility has been running successfully for two years; the new facility further increases the bitumen emulsion production in this country.

Commissioning of a Bitumen Emulsion Unit in Myanmar

In July 2018, a GlobeCore UVB-1 unit was commissioned in Myanmar. Beside the commissioning, GlobeCore engineers also trained customer personnel to operate and service the unit.

The unit produces 8 cubic meters of emulsion per hour; it consists of a water phase section, emulsion preparation section, controls and piping to supply water phase solution and thinner. The unit is semi-automated.

Bitumen emulsion made with the UVB-1 units complies with international standards of quality and can be used for surface treatment of road top, preparation of cold asphalt mix, patch repairs of roads, tac coating before application of asphalt etc.

Improve the quality of bitumen using UMB-6 plant

How can I improve the quality of bitumen? What is the difference between modified bitumen and common non-modified bitumen? What equipment is used for bitumen modification?

Bitumen is one of the most common materials in construction. It is used in roofing and waterproofing works, construction and repair of road surfaces, the protection of pipelines, the lining of canals,

But with all the advantages, bitumen has one drawback, which is its fragility in low temperatures. In severe climate conditions, bitumen coatings fail before their expected life time. In warm climate under sun rays and in high temperatures the bituminous asphalt layer is dulling and aging a lot more intensely.

Modifying bitumen to improve its quality

With introduction of polymers, it is possible to improve the properties of bitumen – reduce brittleness and increase heat resistance. Modifying additives extend the life of bitumen coatings – by resisting deformation in the range of operating temperatures, water resistance and strength.

Equipment for bitumen modification from GlobeCore

GlobeCore produces equipment for modified bitumen for the needs of construction industry. One of the latest achievements of our design department is the improvement plant for mixing bitumen in cycle  UMB-6 (productivity 6 m3 / h).

This equipment can work with various forms of additives (liquid, solid, powder), and its dimensions are adjusted for transportation in a container by road and by sea. In one production cycle, bitumen passes twice through the colloid mill, which allows to increase its quality without loss of productivity. Also the number of bitumen pumps is reduced from three to two: one for pumping in, and the other for a colloid mill and pumping out.

Commissioning of a UVB-10PK Bitumen Complex in Ghana

A team of GlobeCore specialists visited Accra (Ghana) in August for commissioning and personnel training.

This time, the team commissioned a UVB-10PK bitumen complex, which consits of several sections, each with its own function:

  • bitumen input;
  • preparation of bitumen;
  • production of all emulsion types;
  • emulsion storage and output.

Operating such equipment optimizes motorway repairs and construction, since some of the operations can be performed at the same time (e.g. accepting bitumen and bitumen emulsion output).

The UVB-10PK can be installed on a prepared site in two weeks, including startup and commissioning. The unit can be controlled by a single operator, but for safety purposes, due to hot bitumen and heat carrier use, two operators are preferred.

All operating modes are automated. The operator’s function is to select the mode of operation and start/stop the equipment.

Roads of Ghana are Built and Repaired with GlobeCore Equipment

In April, representatives of our company visited Ghana to access the current state of a UVB-1 plant.

This equipment was sold in 2012 and has since produced 40000 m3 of bitumen emulsion. This material is in demand in Ghana, as this country is badly in need of building new and repairing the existing automobile roads.

Application of bitumen emulsions in road construction industry boosts the quality work significantly, expands work season, saves binding materials and fuel. Using emulsions also reduces hazardous emissions into atmosphere.

As a results of the trip, we state that after four years of successful operation in Ghana the UVB-1 is in good state and ready to contribute to the progress of road construction industry of Ghana.

GlobeCore Makes Equipment Presentations in Bulgaria

A number of presentations of GlobeCore products were made to representatives of the Bulgarian road construction industry from 18 to 24 October 2015.

The events were held in Sofia, Plovdiv, Ruse, Blagoyevgrad and other important Bulgarian cities.  GlobeCore representatives provided the attendees information on both the company and on the products such as bitumen emulsion production unit UVB-1, polymer bitumen modification units UVB-2 and bitumen laboratory equipment.

The high interest of Bulgarian industry professionals in GlobeCore products is not accidental.  First of all, the demand for bitumen emulsion and modified bitumen in Bulgaria is growing constantly.  Second, a bitumen modification plant, made by GlobeCore, has been in operation in Varna since 2009.

The presentations were attended by technical specialists as well as managers of road construction companies.  After concluding the formal presentations, the participants had an opportunity to get full answers to the questions that had been raised during the presentation made by GlobeCore’s Design Engineer.

Here at GlobeCore, we would like to thank our Bulgarian colleagues for their interest and warm welcome. We are confident that these meetings will transform into fruitful cooperation in the future.

GlоbeCоre Begins to Manufacture New Equipment for Peanut Butter Production

In the first quarter of this year, GlоbeCоre announced the start of the production of new lines for peanut butter preparation.

More than 4 million tons of peanut butter are produced in the world annually because of its high demand in the cooking and baking industries, cosmetology, confectionary and pharmaceutical industries.  The xport and consumption of this product however, differs considerably in different countries due to the peculiarities of the different production techniques used in each country.  For example, even a slight temperature deviation from the set value during the nut meat processing can lead to the loss of valuable raw materials.  Shortcomings of the preliminary preparation process can lead to the bitterness of the finished product.

Not all businesses have equipment that can meet all the production requirements needed in order to produce a high quality and a cost competitive  peanut butter.  With this in mind, GlоbeCоre has developed a new line for the production of peanut and other pourable food products.  This new equipment line includes units for raw material grinding (colloid mill), powder drying (drying cabinet), metering and blending with additional components (blending machines).  These lines are fully automated and energy efficient.  They provide for high quality peanut butter production in accordance with the original formula.

In today’s competitive food market, a colloid mill is the most effective device for grinding and preparation of dispersed systems.  It can simultaneously disperse, homogenize and grind the source material down to the size of five (5) micron particles.

The blending system operates according to the principle of hydrodynamic impact that causes a cavitation effect to achieve the desired results.  The main advantage of such equipment is the possibility to blend in one pass up to 5 liquid additives as well as the peanut powder.  The final product possesses stable taste qualities, is transportable and can be stored.
