    During colloid mill operation, the motor drives the rotor to speeds often between 3000 and 15000 RPM depending on model size. Feed material is drawn into the center and forced outward through the narrowing rotor-stator gap by centrifugal force. As it passes through, shear and impact forces break down particles, and the finished dispersion is discharged, sometimes recirculated for additional passes to achieve the desired fineness.
