A colloid mill is well suited to ink production because it can disperse fine pigment particles evenly throughout a water-based or solvent-based vehicle, breaking down clumps that would otherwise cause streaking, poor print definition or clogging in printing equipment. Adjusting the gap width allows control over final particle size, and cooling jackets help manage the heat generated during high-shear processing of viscous ink formulations.
