A colloid mill is not the typical choice as a primary bread crumb grinder, since hammer mills or crushers handle the initial size reduction of dry bread more efficiently; however, a colloid mill can be used downstream to further refine crumb into very fine, uniform particles for coatings or fillings, or to disperse crumb into wet batters. For coarse crumb alone, a dedicated grinder remains the lower-maintenance option.
